Breakdown’s breakin’ it DOWN!!

Posted under Uncategorized by J.Woot on Monday 15 September 2008 at 9:31 pm

Breakdown - Team Axel: This is a really cool tune. “My team, my crew, my boys, My hoes are much better than yours” Hustlers anthem right here. The Breakdown crew is made up of brothers Josh & Matt David along with the well known Ried Speed and they pretty much own it. This is a wobbly 4/4 slammer of a tune full of driving synths and the “oh so” proper wobble smacked down on the b-line. Loving the Helium sounding vocal as well. Look for mass amounts dance as the second breakdown drops….big tings!
Breakdown - Team Axel (Youthfull Implants RmX): This guys outta control. YI brings the breakbeat sound we all wanna hear and mixes it up with this tune to give that 4/4 feeling just a bit of a gnarly twist! This tune is the heavy stepper I wanted to hear. A deep droning bass coupled w/ some beautiful percussion and a driving feel make this tune a perfect alternative to the original. Big ups to the YI on this one, nice tunage!

Breakdown - Team Axel (Will Bailey RmX): 1/2 the Twocker crew comes thru and gives this tune a professional Wobble masters ReRub This tune is the jackin’ fidgety equivalent of about 15 RedBull and Vodka’s in a sweaty nightclub. Squelchy, wobbly, MASSIVE! Ultimate Electro tune right here, golden!  Will Bailey can do no wrong, and thats becoming very clear as this guy hammers out tunes that are sure to be BIG on the clubs.  A GREAT find for Promo Records!

Promo comes allll the way thru on this one with 4 wicked tunes! Things just don’t stop coming out of this direction and that’s a GOOD thing for your CD case. Look for this to come thru some time this month and be sure to pick it up, you’ll be amazed!

New Label Alert!!!!!

Posted under Uncategorized by J.Woot on Friday 11 July 2008 at 6:30 pm

A brand new label from France!!!! Oooh la la! …. ‘Katorza’ bought to you by label head Maelstrom who’s label mantra is similar to that of his own releases, to deliver top notch music, be it taking in the styles of breaks, electro, techno and all with a serious dollop of funk to get the party going. Here we go…..

Redux - Diskobreaks: Heavy 4/4 Flow on this one w/glitchy into biz and quite a catchy feel to it. The Breakdown introduces some heavily filtered funk and a blippy build into a massively Rauchy B-line driven smasher! Redux does a great job of changing up the tune while still keeping the energy high and the Edits a flowin’. I can really dig this tune and definitely plan on incorporating it into my sets this weekend . This is a great release to start off a label with. Redux has absolutely let the funk fly on this tune.

Diskobreaks (Maelstrom Candy Mix): Time for Label boss Maelstrom to wreck up the RmX duties and he’s taken the tune in a slightly Breakier direction. Heavy drums and trancy synths take this one into a distorted as hell breakdown. When the tune drops out of the break it feels slightly held back, but it builds from their more and more and drops once again into a slightly glitchy / distorted break down. All and all this RmX is good for a progressive type of set, Anyone who knows my style wouldn’t be surprised to hear that I wish it had just a bit more behind it tho. I can certainly see some candy kids diggin the shit out of this tune tho, as the name would imply.

Diskobreaks (Maelstrom Deadend Mix): Mr. Boss man’s up for double duty on this release, and this ones more 4/4. This tune starts with the Driving feel that I’ve been diggin the shit out of lately. Some seriously hard Biz before the intro is even done, Im likin’ this one. Come break down time this tune steps it up even more and the drop is proper to say the least. This tune has the energy i wish the breaks RmX above had. Theres a lot going on in this tune, but it’ll go over very well in a club a guaranty! Raunchy as hell bass lines, glitchy textures and a over all crowd rocka for sure. Well done.

Katorza debuts mid July with this massive chunka tunes and its already gettin smashed by Gen. MIDI, NAPT, Mr. Jimmy MoFo, Ursula1000, Mr No Hands , and you can throw me in there now too. Wicked tunes!

New Mr. NO Hands Video!!!!

Posted under Uncategorized by J.Woot on Thursday 10 July 2008 at 10:20 pm

Mr no Hands turns out an amazing new Video and he has honed his skills in a major way!  Still got the lovable sheep in it.  The quality and content is thru the ROOF tho.  Keep an eye out for the tune to drop soon backed w/ another slice of Mr. NO Hands badness!!!!

Arms Race FTW!!!!!

Posted under Uncategorized by J.Woot on Wednesday 9 July 2008 at 5:57 pm

These are some wicked tunes and push a very promising new angle for Botchit…..

Quest and Odissi - Arms Race

Original: They’re back and it’s a HOT one guys! This tune starts with a great drum intro and some nice chime type deal before Oddissi drops some signature vocals in that “oh so sexy” way. Proper guitar riffs and classic quest style dub tones make this a GREAT basis for some wicked RmXs. When this tune is at its peak it is NOT one to be messed with, the duo tosses up one hell of a tune and this one, with its heavy jam and wicked vocals, is gonna make for a major ruckus on the DanceFloor. Proper Biz guys! WELL DONE

Sex and Circuitry RmX: Now we turn up a Live mix done by Oddissi and Prodigy / Pitchshifter axe man Jim
Davis! This live version will ROCK YOUR FUGGIN WORLD! Massive riffs, the same ultra hot oddissi vocal, rock-tastic drums and over all HUGE feel gives this rmx a hell of a presence and one wicked cruisin’ tune! Love the direction that the artists as well as botchit have gone on this package so far

LBJ RmX: Lbj takes this tune in a completely different direction on this one with a kinda “drag” guitar riff and nice underlying synth work. A very different guitar riff from the rest of the mixes. Im quite torn on this tune. I like it a good bit and am sure I can find a spot for it in a set, With such a solid feel running thru the rest of theses mixes i do suppose its well deserved to have a mix w/ a different feel. I retract my last statement. Im not torn any longer, this is a quality mix done well and Im stickin with it. Proper LBJ biz

Jade RmX: Now I dont know if its just cause I used to be DnB Dj, or the fact that I live in DnB country NC or what. I LOOOOVE this mix tho. Hard as hell half time intro, Master vocal work, and excellent use of the riffs from the orig ! I really, REALLLLLY like this tune! Jade has done a great job of using all the orig parts in their orig condition just using them very creatively and on top of that in a piece of DnB production perfection! This tune makes me wanna dust of my dnb wax and go get a set at NC strength to be honest *picks up phone*

Botchit puts together a ULTIMATE package with this one. Really stepping outside the box they provide every kinda mix you could ever want! To top it off, its all done by industry superstars who do not fail to deliver maximum quality and proper heaviness. JOB WELL DONE ALL AROUND ON THIS ONE

PLAZA DE FUNK “DROP THE BOMB” BRIGHTON BREAKS

Posted under Uncategorized by NAPT on Thursday 3 July 2008 at 7:09 pm

plaza

The Italian breakbeat superstar Plaza de Funk continues to ride his wave of success after his much deserved breakspoll awards and nominations with this chunky ditty on the consistent Brighton Breaks imprint. Quite often supplying more then you would expect from his funky moniker the Plaza serves up a slice of rude driving bassline, stompy breakbeats peppered with hip hop shouts and an irresistible bleep hook. Lots of pleasing production touches and a cool almost rock/hiphop tempo change ensure hands in the air aplenty moments and a surefire dancefloor gem. On the flip Nectarios keeps the vibes the same but injects a little shot of tech roll-out into proceedings with a big room sounding respray. Quality package.

Future Perfect Numba 2!!!

Kid Digital - There For You: This tune starts out very mellow yet still driving. Spatters of female vocals and a crushed up blipy line get ya goin as the tune picks up into a great jammer w/ a super deep B-line and some nice synth work. This tune doesnt scream Kid digital to me but all in all I dig it for sure :bingo: It has a proper breakdown flaunting some nice vocals and the same great bass. Twards the drop of the tune a raunchy ass squelchy bass tone comes in and really go me groovin. This tune will surley go down well on the dance floor and will make a good addition to either a raunchy tear out set OR a slightly techy / groove based set. This is a great find for the 2nd installment on the Future Perfect label. Proper!

Pro-7 RmX: This one by Pro-7 comes correct w/ a Kick drum that will punch you RIGHT IN THE BRAIN! A bit less Electro than most of his productions this one has a bit of a hard house sound to it. I really dont dig hard house, I can see where this will go down well in just about any set tho because it still has a very Pro-7 sound to it which keeps it safley out of the “Hard house” catagory. A very good job has been done of using all the key elements from the orig in his own way. This is a proper addition to this release and should by no means be over looked.

Arrow RmX: Arrow takes the tune and runs w/ it on this RmX. Spacy intro biz and a hint of a progressive sound to it makes this a very different approach. The breakdown has a great wind up to it and the vocals have been reworked very nicley in a electro fashion. This is a really mellow tune and has a very deep house sound to it. Not my cup of tea at all, but those who read my reviews know that I like it derty and in your face. This is a surprising twist on this rmx. It does however mean that no matter what your liking, this release has one for you!

Future Perfect does a great job of putting together a very “some thing for everyone” package on this release. On top of that, all the artists on this one do a wicked job of showing that they have many different sounds they can turn out! This is FOR SURE one to keep a look out for!!!

More from the Bearded label…

Sound of Habibjust keeps dishing out these MASSIVE tunes……Imma have to get me a tee or something cause it would be an honor to be a walking Billboard for this wicked label!  (makes note)

This string of tunes is actually gonna back the tunes I reviewed a few weeks ago by Karton called “MugStar” and that makes this 29th release of S.O.H one not to miss!!!!!!

Digitalis-Dealing with it…..Digitalis has been putting out some top notch stuff and this one is no different.  With drums as solid as a week old piece of pizza, and those haunting vocals that make his tunes EPIC, this is a heavy stepper of a tune!  I can already tell you this one’s gonna be in my next club set without a doubt, and I recommend it to any proper breaks Dj.  The 2nd break in this tune does a great job of taking it up a notch!  A MUST HAVE FOR ANY BREAKS FAN!

Digitalis - Dealing with it (Karton rmX)….A Wikkid approach to this rmx is taken by Australian Fav’s KARTON.  I super smooth electro approach if I may say so myself, this remix makes this the perfect match for such a massive release as their last tune “Mugstar”.  Great acid lines and a solid groovy hook keeps this tune moving full steam ahead!  Its only been here lately that I’ve heard anything from Karton and Im very excited to see what else they have in store for us!!!

These are two GREAT tunes and when you add in the fact that its paired with the “MugStar” package….Sound of Habib has just taken it to a new level!!!  keep your eyes out for this STOMPER of a release!!!!!

Rico Tubbs - Knuckle Sandwich

Posted under Uncategorized by NAPT on Sunday 18 May 2008 at 10:18 pm

Along with their super filtered vodka, Rico Tubbs must be one of Finland’s finest exports. With a rich history in the Finnish dance scene, the dreadlocked warrior of funk steps up to the plate with his second album. Taking a distinct lilt towards the more urban dance styles (think baltimore, baseline house, hardcore et al) Rico serves up a smorgasbord of different influences into one brightly neon coloured stew of dancefloor fun. Not taking itself too seriously or overtly worried with the latest futuristic production techniques, Knuckle Sandwich just heads for the old skool rawkus amped up party energy that also encompass the man’s rather wicked DJ sets. Expect loads of classic drum breaks, looped hip hop shouts, filtered sampled jolliness and plenty and plenty of insane squidgy bassline antics. Top fun album.

Pick Ya’Self up a Karton, you Mug Star!

Posted under Uncategorized by J.Woot on Wednesday 14 May 2008 at 4:36 am

Yet another Stormer of a release form big baller label “Sound of Habib” this time in the form of two dance floor devastating Breaks choons. Australia’s Karton turns in Mug Star, and with in minutes I’m almost fallin off my chair! This package comes with a very tasty Digitalis Rmx as well. Keep your eyes open as this one will be coming around soon, so don’t sleep on it!

Karton - Mug Star…The first thing you notice about this song is the in your FACE drums that are nothing short of something out of a breaks Dj’s wet dreams (you like that play on noise porn and wet dreams, don’t ya) As the break drops a nice distorted B-line comes ripping thru yer earhole and before to long, “mug star” shows its true face…a funk injected heavy weight of a tune!

Karton - Mug Star (Digitalis RmX)…Nice rolling drums start this beast out, quite a bit more of nuskool effort on this run. The vocal hits a lot earlier than the original witch will make this a mix to hype the crowds with! Digitalis pumps this one full of grime and glitch and does it WELL i might add. If you love heavy hittin’ nuskool tunes complete with a half time breakdown..this one is for you.

Something I found quite outstanding was this quote from the press release-

“seeing a wide range of supporters including the Plump DJs who were so impressed with the tune, when Karton opened for them, that they had to grab the copy in the CD deck.”

Nice WAN GUYS! As far as Sound of Habib, they tell us to keep an eye out as Digitalis has more in store coming as far as this Forward thinking label goes. While your waiting for these Heavy Weights to drop…don’t forget to stop by and see what these exciting artists and Label have going on!!!!
