Its not often that i find a remix from a unknown artist that i thoroughly enjoy (and i mean thoroughly). Mendoza is a young producer/DJ from Hamburg Germany and has been producing for almost 3 years. His remix of Mr. Oizo’s ‘Positif’ is exactly what i have been looking for – a revamped and funky remix of a classic club classic. This song sounds like a Beatacue remix of Positif (and i say this in the best possible way). It retains the fantastically bizarre riff of the original but injects an added funkiness which is instantly danceable. I have already played this out twice with fantastic reactions from the crowd! Rest assured Mendoza is no one hit wonder: his forthcoming productions are fantastic.

With the release of Crookers online album preview and new single ‘Remedy’ fast approaching (March 3rd), UK based live electro/dubstep outfit ‘Jeuce‘ have sent through their official ‘Jeuce rework’ of the new Crookers single a wee bit early. Official remixes for the likes of Ellie Goulding, Pony Pony Run Run, Ladytron and Hadouken! as well as recent attention from Radio 1 DJs Jaymo and Andy George, prove that this four piece are no slackers when it comes to churning out the great remixes and this latest rework is no exception.
As well as pumping out the remixes Jeuce’s live set complies a relentless mix of hard-hitting Dance music, perfectly suited to a club atmosphere. Bringing a hybrid sound of bass heavy drops thrown together with a mix of melodic vocals, bouncy synths and twisted guitar lines.
The boys have recently signed a number of single releases with London based label, Gash digital, as well as becoming a solid part of the freshly launched Get Hype Collective; a collaboration of like-minded Acts, DJ’s, Designers and Promoters. Their forthcoming release “Flavour” is due to hit the stores in April this year, with remixes from Kidda, Bare Noize, Kanji kinetic, Audiofun and more.
Keep tabs on these boys, I expect big things.

Its not often that i come across an artist as driven and passionate about music as RQM. I was recently sent the press release for his latest Ep ‘Colors Fade’ and i have to say it is probably the most inspiring project i have ever come across. You can really feel that everyone who has taken part in this project has aimed at bringing something interesting and different to the table. RQM has created a package which is not just sonically stunning but also visually beautiful.
The Artwork:
“This is a very important release for me – it marks a period of musical independence so I wanted to celebrate it with something very special and essentially give my fans a real gift. REMED is one of my favorite artists and I respect the brother for the soul he injects into his paintings so a collab was a natural movement. ” RQM
RQM teamed up with the fantastic street artist Remed to create a limited edition run of 84 7″ records. Remed turned 84 7″ individual pieces into a single painting/puzzle outlining the entire life span of a relationship (a theme that runs through the Colors Fade EP). The idea behind this project was to take the concept of “limited edition” literally and to create something very unique and affordable for the fans. The entire package consists of a Remed hand painted cover, the ‘Colors Fade’ 7″ record and a Carhartt limited edition t-shirt designed by Remed.
The Music:
RQM has managed to source some truly amazing talent to help produce the ‘Colors Fade’ Ep. Check out all the tracks here and download those which are highlighted in black:
RQM – ATOMIC FUSION (PRODUCED BY SIRIUSMO)
Atomic Fusion has to be my favorite track of the bunch. Produced by one of the most innovative electronic dance music makers Siriusmo this track is eye opening. To attempt to confine this song to a certain genre is close to impossible : borrowing aspects from Hip-Hop//Electronica// Dubstep//Pop, this song is simply mindblowing. The Synth work on this track is fantastic, from the soft and melodic arpeggios to the tight saturated bass; everything has its place.
RQM – ATOMIC FUSION (SON OF KICK REMIX)
The Son Of A Kick remix is a heavy hitting dub tune with a more stripped down approach than the rest of the remixes. The roaring bass really sucks you in deep with the beautiful cascading arpeggios. I picture this working perfectly in the clubs from 3am onwards..its deep engrossing atmospheric music that just gets you going!
RQM – COLORS FADE (CHRIS DE LUCA REMIX)
The Chris De Luca remix is a deep dubstep number that is absorbing in every way. The winding synths give a haunting feel that is utterly appealing – the production details on this one are immaculate although on the first run the tune appears utterly simplistic.
RQM – COLORS FADE (PRODUCED BY THE GLUE KIDS)
‘Colors Fade’ Glue Kids remix veers into more commercial direction: huge hip hop beats and 90’s style synths makes this tune perfect chilled afternoons.
The JF remix is another dub affair with hints of Reggae. I love the jagged choking synths that compliment RQM’s lyrics giving this song a grimey feel.
The entire Ep can be bought here (Digital) and here (physical limited edition version including artwork and t-shirt).
I rarely feel compelled to write in such length about anything but i feel so utterly inspired by this entire project. I suppose it stems from my disillusionment with the current state of the music business. The digital realm is far too impersonal and disembodied and does not allow for artists to wholeheartedly express their ideas. I feel such work should be strongly supported and to to do so: go and order the limited edition version here (I have). RQM in my personal opinion has really made something unique as well as providing his fans with something they can truly cherish for the rest of their lives! I hope you all enjoy this as much as i do.

In late December 2009, Lee Mortimer and Foamo created the instant banger titled ‘Superman’. More recently TFA announced the dup would be taking this the the next level, introducing ‘Superman’ as Lee Mortimer Vs. Foamo touring concept.
The launch of the Superman concept takes place on Saturday, 13th of March at the Rhythm Factory, London. Otherwise you can catch the duo across the UK in the lead up to the summer with dates being snapped up until the end of May.
Celebrating this new idea Streetlife DJs have put their own disco style spin on ‘Superman’ in a way only Streetlife DJs could. This Remix turns the original banger into a head bopping, finger clicking, shape throwing, dance floor filler with definite references to an era of floor lit clubs.
Watch this space for further developments and get your cape on!

Leeds based DJ and production duo Eskimo Twins have been causing quite a stir in the past few months, playing support for the mighty Erol Alkan and Vitalic amongst others. With DJ sets consisting of two bouncing northerners tweaking midi controllers until the crowd go wild, they manage to slip in numerous edits, bootlegs and remixes of their own. Their most recent remix of Cassette Jam’s Never Going Home show’s that their productions reflect the energy and pace of their DJ sets.
The initial beeps and blips of Never Going Home, together with a low throbbing synth, form the base of the track. The addition of further layers of synths creating a brilliant break into a massive build that would send any dance floor into a frenzy of excitement. Aided by an echoing and sometimes distorted vocal this track is sounding fresh from start to finish.
The Eskimo Twins are racking up dates left right and center which will see them playing with the likes of Calvin Harris, Jack Beats and Hostage as well as a guest mix on Kissy Sell Out, these boys are giving you no excuses. Look out for their remix of Midrage by Streetlife DJ’s dropping on Streetbeats on 22nd Feb.
Check em out – you wont be disappointed!

Unforgettable for his animations featuring a cute little guy atop his beloved BMX, Mr No Hands continues to make big noises in the breaks scene, with some tasty releases on Air and Dusted Breaks. Been hanging on to this one for a while and now finally have got round to posting it – it’s his killer remix of the Plump DJs “System Addict”. No Hands chops and twists the bassline, and in my opinion, blows the original out of the water. Fortune has meant that this escaped release and is now available as a free 320. Dig in!

The amazing DJ Hell v Bryan Ferry release ‘U Can Dance’ Ep was released a couple of weeks ago and i have to say its my favourite EP of 2010. I had heard the title track ages ago and was instantly hooked by its deep bass and haunting vocals. I sometimes fantasise about playing this tune out but quickly realise its way too deep and intense for anything before 4am. We have the Peter Kruder Edit to give away but i really recommend you go buy this Ep as the Simian Mobile Disco remix is and absolute gem of a tune.
Check out the official video here!

Just received a little gem from coco machete records regarding SCNDL’s new EP ‘Need to Know’. This is a great Ep featuring some absolutely blinding remixes: Lee Mortimer takes the main riffs and raves it up with his turbulent basslines while Markus Lange & SteroFunk keep it on the deeper side of dark electro. Fukkk Offf wraps up the package witha simple yet effective edit that fattens things up on the bottom while keeping it glued to the floor. I highly recommend you check them all out on Beatport!
