It’s a truly massive day for dance. We’ve got a big one in the form of Elite Force’s long, long awaited LP of Re:Vamped dropping in our collective inboxes, Beatport and Juno crates. To celebrate, the man has allowed us to have a semi-exclusive chat to find out exactly what makes this new album great and why blogs are a fantastic tool.
Re:Vamped has several different outlets today, I highly recommend popping over to the Revamped store and picking up the bundles. VERY much worth it. Now for the interview and 26 Basslines. Enjoy!
You know we’re massive fans of what you’re doing with U&A and the crew on board already, how important has blog coverage been to you in prepping the release of Re:Vamped?
The blogs have been a major tool for us in ramping up for Revamped, and what’s been exciting from my point of view is how we’ve developed an understanding and a relationship with a lot of like-minded, passionate writers, like yourselves, who clearly put the music first. For me it’s been really refreshing to unveil a project in this way without having anything to do with the style-over-substance blogs – makes me cherish my independence from the self-imposed ‘scenesters’ all the more J
The mix is an unbelievably great mix of styles, how important was it meshing those styles rather than sticking to genres that are / were popular at the time?
Ultimately it just comes down the music really, and I completely stand behind what I’ve done on this album – I think the reason why the sound is a open and transparent as it is, is that I never intended to release any of it, so I never gave a second thought about what I could & couldn’t use … it was only when it came down to getting licenses granted that I perhaps wished I had (that being said, I’ll know for next time next to use anything on Kompakt with a view to releasing it at a later date :lol ). I really don’t care about people’s views on genres and what they think should be current and cool or how you should tow the line in your productions to fit in with someone else’s personal remit. None of that’s important – it’s just music, pure & simple, and hopefully people will take it at face value and enjoy it for what it is.
You’ve also revealed your further plans for future releases and gigs, making the purchasing of music much more relevant and worthwhile than it has been these past few years; what’s inspired to see yourself at the forefront of innovation? Both through this distribution method and also in crafting Re:Vamped?
I don’t necessarily see myself at the forefront of innovation or anything that bold & brassy – I think the sad fact of the matter is that most of the music industry has been stuck in a nostalgic mire for years & years now, back-pedalling when they should have been grasping the mettle and seizing the day. Finally there is now technology available that allows the musician and the label to wrestle back some control over their music usage and the way that it’s served up to their public, and it’s easier than ever to engage with the public and canvas what they really want. What we are doing at U&A is simply aiming to live out our own fantasies of ‘wouldn’t it be great if we could do X and Y and thereby reach these people and speak to them in this way’. For example, as a music fan would you like to be able to buy a ticket for a show and receive a recording of that exact show the following week – for me that would be a yes, so we’re working out ways of implementing it in the near future. Check out http://uaarecs.com and http://eliteforcemusic.com for working examples of some of this bundled content in action.
What about dealing with blogs that might post tracks that you never allowed? How does that affect you and the artists that you work with?
I’ve got to be honest – it’s a massive massive problem for the industry and it’s only getting worse. No one has made any real leaps to stop the organized cartels that are purely sharing things (in vast numbers) on Warez boards. Their goal is simply to create content to drive their own personal advertising revenue and that’s tremendously sad really – there’s no passion, no love of the music, no respect for the artists, and they contribute nothing whatsoever that isn’t completely negative to the scene and in doing so make a lot of artists & labels deeply suspicious of the blogging community’s motives. There are a middle-ground of bloggers who feed off these shared downloads for their own content, but generally you can tell where blogs are coming from by their attention to detail and their editorial comment … the more editorial, the more likely they are true supporters and from that point you can develop a relationship with them (like I’ve done with you guys!).
You’ve also grabbed a sweet little sharer of tunes (As we’ve featured in the past) that aims to spread the greatness of free music and the great sounds of that music, do you see yourself and the label collaborating more with the blogs? Especially with some writers very vocal support of Re:Vamped?
Yeah – these widgets have become real key tools for us in both helping spread the word, and helping us get a little something in return for the studio hours and putting tracks out there gratis. So as a special thank you for the continued support (and that goes for everyone out there reading this & consuming the music) we’re giving away the Benga – 26 Basslines (Elite Force Re-Fix) that’s been so much requested by beatsheads over the past few months.
We’re also streaming the entire album for free. There’s some seriously kick-ass tunes on here. Well actually, all of them are.

Can you feel the Tension? You should because Meat Katie’s just dropped his ludicrously huge Tension Remixed EP featuring some up and coming players in the Euro techno / minimal arena. It’s an EP that would serve great livening up your sets with some unique and killer tunes. It’s popped up on Beatport this morning with remixes to die for; ranging from tech, to electro and even some breaks!
It’s sad watching Lot49 almost completely divert away from breaks, but the stuff that’s coming out now on the imprint is just oh-so gooooooood!
We’ve been supplied with that kick ass little widget that when you open it (Think of this as opening a chest in Zelda) you are delivered with Tony Senghore’s spaced out little electro stomper.

Florence and the Machine are moving very fast lately. Most recently having won some awards at the Brits. So naturally you’re going to get a bunch of artists trying to remix the tunes they are throwing out. Well I’ve come across P.E.S.T’s remix of Cosmic Love. Which the boys have been kind enough to offer it up as a freebie for all of us to snap up and rave like mad to.
It’s a killer remix, absolutely loving the euphoria and I do have a soft sport for Florence’s vocals; which are used superbly here. This is a feel good summer track, perfect for the setting sun and the green club lasers over some strobe. Rave is still king!
Florence and the Machine – Cosmic Love (P.E.S.T Remix)
Their single, Rave Box, is out and pretty much solidifies their status and love of the rave. Big ups to the boys for this. Available on iTunes right now! Plus it’s on streaming duties just below for you music listeners that use Youtube to listen to music…

Peo De Pitte…you are on the very top of my list for best upcoming talent (Well, he’s been upcoming for a while, but there’s nothing wrong with continually rising to levels of just fucking awesome.) For those who keep an ear to the breaks scene will know that Peo is on absolute fire. By fire, I also mean his tracks are THIS HOT. Low and behold when he drops his remix of The Loops of Fury’s Soap another freebie pops into my inbox.
Today; we present his remix of Telepopmusik’s grammy nominated Breathe. Don’t expect anything less than a dark warehouse vibe, complete with bouncy kicks, zippy synths and airy vocal and original track stabs. This one is one of my favourite tracks in the last couple of weeks. Bravo times infinity Peo!
So, below is the address popper innerer for your track. Which I suggest you use immediately; just look at his cheeky smile. What’s that you say? You like the remix because it’s as hot as the sun? Well tell your friends if they want a tan, by pressing the tiny share button under the download button. I’ll be dropping this one at my Open Decks gig next week for sure. Love this tune!

One of the best singles so far this year has come in the form of my Brisbane favourites, The Loops of Fury. The boys have sent over a tasty mini-mix promoting their new single Soap, with some shit hot remixes from Peo De Pitte and Hatiras, as well as an original to die for. This mix has also got their chart topping single Flick A Switch and it’s accompanying remixes and their amazing remix under their old moniker of Hyperion of Dylan Rhymes I Am Sweet.
But, I implore you to gun over to Beatport and pick up the single, it’s an exclusive and it means the world to the boys. Plus you’ll be supporting the best single to have come out so far in 2010 (One of anyway!) You’ll also add some quality electro, breaks and wonk to your already bass driven libaries. Scope it up!
The Loops of Fury – 30 Minute Mini-Mix

Short but sweet lucky stars this morning! I’ve never really been a fan of MSTRKRFT’s work, other than their remix of The Crystal Method’s Keep Hope Alive a few years ago; but the heavy electro noise of Blende has jumped on remix duties of their track Breakaway.
I still haven’t gotten over how heavy and mental the electro Blende can produce, and that sound is really coming into it’s own within the scene at the moment, so Blende is a flagrunner for that particular sound. This remix is no different, layered with screeching electro, vocal chops and more screeches. It’s aggressive and it’s a tasty 320!

Have you ever bought a track (at random) finding that you love it so much that you follow that artists work for years to come? Well I found myself in that position when I met Noise Porn’s new editor Jorge Brea or Viro as he is better known as in our little dance music world. In this interview (Which is part one of two) we’ll be getting an insight into his plans for our home and what exactly he does. Part two will see us dropping some lovely electro freebies from himself and a chat about his history as a DJ. Down to the business!
Tell us about yourself, Jorge, give our readers are face to the name!
Well, first, let me say that is a pleasure to be giving this interview for the entire NoisePorn fan base and followers! My name is Jorge Brea and I am the President and CEO of Symphonic Distribution. Aside of this, I am also a producer/DJ like the many artists that are featured. I go by the name of Viro and I produce with my buddy and best friend, Rob Analyze under the monicker of Viro & Rob Analyze (or VRA). We release music on various labels such as BomBeatz Music, BomBeatz Ink, and many more that are distributed by us. Like many readers, and writers of this blog, music is my passion, I enjoy making it and I enjoy serving the many DJs, Producers, and Record Labels around the world! With that said, I am 25, born in the Dominican Repulic (So Hablo Espanol!), and am blessed to have a great family, girlfriend, and friends!
Tell us about Symphonic Distribution; how did it come about?
Symphonic Distribution began in late 2006. I had started a Digital Record Label in 2004 and ran it until 2007. I had noticed that the Vinyl and CD markets had started to fade (sadly). With many record stores going bye bye, record labels not being able to afford pressing vinyls or cds, and then the distributors (that at time screwed the record labels) that went bust, myself, and many others were left with no choice but to try and revamp the way our industry would go. The digital record label aspect was great and I was very happy to make it a legit business and way to get my material and material of many talented artists out there to the masses. With the record label aspect taking off, it seemed to make sense to get my friends in the act. I started Symphonic Distribution and the rest is history! We now serve 600+ record labels around the world that feature some of the very same artists that this blog features! Aside of distribution, we also provide Education, Development (Music Mastering), Marketing, and many more through our various brands and extras! We also try to get unknown talent in the hands of our record labels to help those get out there! Needless to say (and Ive said a lot already), I am absolutely thankful and consider myself one of the luckiest guys in the world to be doing what I do with so many great and talented artists and labels.
It’s a daunting task, what you’ve under taken! Why did you choose Noise Porn?
Well, first, I am a huge fan of NoisePorn. Writers, like yourself have done a TREMENDOUS job at featuring new talent, events, editorials and more. I was approached with the option to take over the blog and after several months, we went ahead and agreed and here we are today! I think NoisePorn not only has a great name but a great fanbase and of course, great writers providing it with some of the best content I’ve seen in the internet. I chose this blog above all because with the name, brand, and fan base, it provides a great opportunity for us to branch out and provide more to our clients but also to non-clients. They can use our services, but if not, get great information on new talent. Overall, the blog is awesome and its only going to get better!
What have you got planned for our little blog?
Well, as you might have seen, we have updated the logo, and intend to do more website updates in the coming months. We would like to make this a very successful online magazine / blog (similar to that of URB.com and ResidentAdvisor.net as we are huge fans and followers of those as well). With this, we will invest funds to market the blog, and enhance the look and feel to attract new followers as well as keep our current ones happy! This and other marketing means such as an iPhone App, Record Label, and more!
One of the most important questions is how is this acquisition going to help our artists expose their music and talent? Great question! First, with the many unsigned and unheard of talent, they now have a channel of distribution through NoisePorn that is the parent company of Symphonic Distribution. We literally have 600+ record labels that can help launch and make an artist from just an unknown in their bedroom to someone that is having legitimate releases all over the world. In addition, we will go forth and communicate to our current clients (which might be unheard of to the NoisePorn followers) to get out there and communicate with some of these artists and also feature some of their artists. All the while, mass networking should happen and if any artists are wishing to start labels, or get with labels, they can contact NoisePorn and get to Symphonic Distribution staff. Best of all, we have plans to do a NoisePorn Records (as the previous plan was to develop a record label) which will also be an avenue for artists to not only share their music for free here on NoisePorn but if they choose to release it worldwide, to do so as well!
Moving onto the iPhone application; SymSTREAM is a fantastic way to show off the talent that Symphonic Distribution has got under its belt; pursuing the iPhone market was a good way of doing it! Yes, I agree. From day one, I have wanted to really work hard at making what we do and offer different. We love technology (no Napoleon Dynamite pun intended ; ) and are always looking for ways to integrate new technologies into our business. The app enables anyone with an iPhone and iPod touch to listen to some of the tracks in the Symphonic Distribution catalog proving that we are one of the only distributors out there that can literally distribute music to the iPhones or Ipods of individuals!
What separates this from the other dance music based applications, seeing as though it’s coming into prominence with Against the Grain’s new app and Deadmau5’s new application?
I must say that Against the grain and Deadmau5 do have some cool apps! What separates this app (which is only in its phase 1 launch) is that a fan of the music can literally hear new and talented unheard of talent 24/7! We add tracks every week to the app and have many more enhancements with its phase 2 launch that we believe will give the consumer more control.
A free price tag for an iPhone app! That’s unheard of! Why choose the free path?
The best things in life are definitely always FREE! We don’t want to seem like money hungry individuals because we are not. It is our first app and because of this, we want to celebrate all of the labels and artists that have contributed to our success by making this a FREE app. This increases the potential for many to download and listen to new talent and perhaps increasing the exposure of an artist and a label.
Are there any other apps you guys have planned, SymSTREAM is a great start!
Yes! We will have an iphone app for NoisePorn at some point in 2010 (possibly towards the end of the year). That app will hopefully be a way for you to listen to the musical content that is uploaded to the NoisePorn blog! Aside of this, we plan to develop an app for a retailer we are VERY close to and also plan to let you know about, that retailer is JamVana.com! Check it out! Then we should go forth and do one that allows labels to promote while still featuring blogs such as this one and much more. We love apps and do have a dedicated brand in the works for just iphone / ipod app development whether it is music or non-music related.
Any last comments?
Once again, THANK YOU! I hope that this wasn’t THAT long of an interview but wanted to provide as much feedback as possible! I leave you knowing that this blog will keep on going and will evolve into something that I personally hope everyone enjoys! Aside of this, I am also leaving you with two tracks from myself and Rob Analyze! These are songs that will be available on Beatport later on in March and also will be apart of our FREE album “back to the furious” that will be pretty much available everywhere during Winter Music Conference time. We will also do a free release here with the mixed version being available for free and if you want the CD, all you do will be to pay for shipping. Why do we do this? Because we love making music and want everyone to hear it! So, enjoy!!!

Our breaks loving bretheren from This Is Breaks have sent us through an exclusive for you guys to grab. Breaks maestro, Plaza De Funk has done up a supremely cool mini-mix for TIB who have sent through to us to share as an exclusive. This one is for his latest single’s release which is rating highly across the breaks kingdom, Push’N'Pull has got the slick sounds of the Stanton Warriors with a sexy vocal feature from Miss Trouble.
My opinion on the new single is that Mr. De Funk has one upped the Warriors with this single, taking a classic sound and making it his own. It’s an energetic number and one of my favourite breaks tunes this year. So where’s the business?! Right below.
Tracklist is as follows;
Plaza De Funk Ft. Miss Trouble – Push’N'Pull (Gigi Barocco Remix)
Plaza De Funk – Keep Yo Head
Adam F & Horx Ft. Redman – Shut the Lights off!
Sub Focus – Could This Be Real
Sidney Samson – Riverside (Peo De Pitte Edit)
The Count & Sinden – Mega
Krafty Kuts vs. Deekline – Reefa
Plaza De Funk Ft. Miss Trouble – Push’N'Pull
Push’N'Pull is up for grabs on Beatport now! Shoot over and buy it, I just did. The original is a delicious slice of breakbeat goodness and Gigi’s remix is super squeaky.
