Just a quick post to say a belated and massive thank you to everyone who took part in the Mongolian Mixtape Marathon. We drove for 47 days, covered 8500 miles, visited 12 countries, lost our brakes, lost fifth gear, lost our suspension, nearly broke the car in half, lost our rear differential, paid bribes, drank vodka, learnt Russian, helped nomads, drank fermented mares milk, drove through potholes bigger than the car, got lost, ate a lot of noodles, got drunk in the desert, was hungover in the desert, were stalked by wild dogs, got stuck in the sand, went to a festival, spent 26 hours at a border, threw jellyfish, saw a dried-up sea, chatted to camels, met a man called “Islam,” were detained by the police for a day, slept in yurts, slept in hammocks, slept in creepy old Soviet buildings, were chased by storms, were caught by storms, ate a lot of plov and schashlick, and learnt how to say thank you in a bunch of different languages. Most importantly we listened to a ton of seriously good music from all our DJs. And when we arrived in Ulanbataar, we’d raised over £1000 for Save The Children and donated our car.
Here’s just a few of the thousands of pictures we took (thanks Sasha and Tom), and some feel good tuneage to remember the trip by.
