It’s not often that tracks find their way from the Pacific island of Vanuatu into our inbox, but t’internet being what it is and with the world rapidly becoming a very small place – it’s been a pleasure to post this little gem as my first post since I’ve arrived in Shanghai.
The “Pacific Step” sound combines strong influences of UK bass music from garage though to dubstep but also keeps a strong connection to traditional music from their native islands, giving them a unique sound that can only be Pacific Steppaz. The duo, John Regis and Thony B, were first influenced by backpackers dropping a trail of enticing UK garage CDs on the island as they bumbled through – and have since developed this into a hybrid that’s uplifting and dancefloor friendly.
