Continuing on a vocal tip today, we have a wicked track for the grabbing from Australian breaks duo Karton. Their distinctive style seems to hover in between breakbeat and two-step, which keeps it different and fresh, and they never fail to deliver a good, dirty bassline. This one ‘Phoenix’ layers steppy breakbeats and distorted bass with lush piano and a melancholic vocal, creating something of a melodic electro tune with a retro feel. Excellent work from Karton once again.
