Joe and Will Ask? – Mongozo EP

Hot on the heels of their recent string of impressive remixes comes news that Joe and Will Ask?’s new Monzgozo EP is going to be out on March 30th. They’ll be releasing it on Gulp records, in both digital and vinyl flavours.

Joe and Will were kind enough to let us have a sneak preview and it’s certainly shaping up to be a cracker! The title track, Mongozo, is hard hitting with distorted, vibrating bass. You can practically feel the saw waves cutting through the air. It’s definitely a song that would get your neighbours complaining late at night. Merrygo has a minimal vibe to it, with plenty of clean melody. I can’t help feeling a tiny Booka Shade influence lurking in the background. Shim is a deeper affair that succeeds in getting its hooks under the skin with its captivating high-notes and excellent drop towards the end.

All in all, I’m surprised that this is only the second release from the duo, considering the high production values and large dose of all-round electro goodness to be found in this EP. They’ve also landed a full page feature in the latest Mixmag, have such distinguished fans as Benny Benassi, Brodinsky and Kris Menace amongst others, and will be performing on the Kitsune tour in addition to several festival dates over the summer. Something tells me that we’re going to be hearing a lot more from these guys in the future.

We’ve got 128kbps copies of Shim and Merrygo for you to check out below, but if you’d like to listen to Mongozo you’ll have to hop over to their MySpace, or get the EP when it drops later this month (as I’m intending to!).
