Do you like rave? And iTunes?

Posted under MP3 by Noise Porn on Sunday 27 July 2008 at 8:06 pm

It’s Sunday night and just got this list of old-skool/rave tracks into my inbox from Netmix.

It’s all linked into iTunes so if you’re reminiscing about the good ol’ days and want some big track satisfaction, or a newbie nu-rave kid who wants an instant download hit of what rave was all about back when, get over here.

Mega catch-up post

Posted under MP3, Mixes, News by Noise Porn on Tuesday 22 July 2008 at 8:37 pm

Once again - sorry for not posting in so long, work is keeping me busy and when I get home at night it’s just too tempting to hit the hay!!

Anyway, here’s a mega roundup of some interesting stuff that’s been stacking up in the inbox recently. (Apologies for not replying to all the artists promptly, but keep the tracks/mixes coming cos loads of people are still reading the site!!)

First up, here’s some tracks for the download. FnDannyBoy from El Paso, Texas has a really driving electrohouse remix of The 45 King to drop into your set late on in the night, get involved.

The 45 King - 900 Number (FnDannyBoy Remix).mp3

Here’s some new stuff on Pyrate Music…that Edinburgh label we mentioned a while back.

Dee mond - If You Cant See The Point.mp3
Dee mond - If You Cant See The Point (Metachemical Remix).mp3

From Kingston in Canada, Metachemical’s superior skills at producing breakbeat tunes are set to mesmerise the breaks-heads all over the world. Introducing him to the label with his awesome remix of Dee Mond’s “If You Cant See The Point.” Pyrate Music has more material from Kingston’s craftsman to come in the near future.

[PYRDD004} Dee Mond - Pyrate With a Y.mp3
[PYRDD004} Dee Mond - Pyrate With a Y (Squatter Edit).mp3

If you guys don’t know about Squatter, check out his Myspace. Converted to producing tunes at The Big Chill that he had a bit of a revelation about what he should be doing with his life. Within a few weeks he’d quit the day job, moved house, and was sitting in lectures learning how to produce properly. He’s got a distinctive style with bone crunching beats, and bass darker than a coal cellar in winter. Sinister breaks and beats to influence the masses.

In other news, Elite Force has a new blog up and running called Techfunk Manifesto.

In his words -

“Tech-Funk is a loose-as-f*uck term that we’ve been using for a number of years now to refer to a broad-based DJ-style that draws from a rich sonic melting pot from techno to electro & breaks to house. By way of an example (and some epic content for your own blog) here are details of the final Strongarm Sessions show, something I’ve been doing now for 6 1/2 years & have just called time on to pursue other projects.”

And as an extra special treat for Noise Porn readers, here’s a link to the last Strongarms Sessions show. It’s 3 hours long and well worth it

Elite Force - Strongarm Sessions Show.mp3

If ever there was a shining star in the blogosphere it’s our man Chew Fu, who’s been banging out crackers like this and sending them out for free, just cos he loves it. Someone get this man over to the UK! And also check out his blog

DJ Kue featured on Noise Porn a while ago and is a regular on Palms Out Remix Sundays column. Here he is ripping up Kanye West

Kayne West - Homecoming (Kue’s Squirrel Funk Remix).mp3

PolarRed Album Bizz!!!!!!

Posted under News, Reviews by J.Woot on Tuesday 15 July 2008 at 1:46 am

With more and more albums coming out this year, theres going to be a few that absolutly step the game up.  Polar Red bosses 601 tossed us a sampler to thier forthcoming album and it absolutly looks to be one to remember!  After a year slaving away in the studio, Polar Red bosses 601 get set to release a teaser of what to expect from their forthcoming album Dirty North!

601 - Dirty North: This tune is absolutely wicked! It has a nice deep breakdown and has just the right amount of funk thrown in to it. Nice snappy drums and a serious groove throughout the whole tune make it very dancefloor friendly! The second break does a great job of working the tune up to a wickedly produced head banger of a tune . Well done indeed. This is one hell of a teaser to an album. Im officially excited.

601 - Back Then: This tune starts off on a more chill approach. full on pad action and some hats to keep the pace, before a funky ass B-line and some laid back drums move in and get the tune movin right along. This one’s got a nice thick texture it and some great floaty hooks to it. I like the change up from this to Dirty North, It shows a real handle on lots of artistic approaches to the album. When the tune drops out of the breakdown at @ 3 min its super funky and becomes a really moving tune. Im officially even more excited about the full album.

601 - Defnikki: This tunes a mover from the get go. Proper solid breakbeats, a choppy vocal, and some staby edits get it movin into a full on vocal packed breakdown w/ one hell of a B-line that moves in before a drop into a electro style 4/4 affair…nice cross over biz here! The second breakdown keeps the pace w/ a 4/4 beat all the way thru the drop and it isn’t til later on that the tune switches back to a breakbeat to close things out. This is a excellent tune and does a great job of switching things up. Very well guys. Very well.

Filthy beats, heavy bass and a nod to the old school are the order of the day, with the many influences that have shaped the 601 sound over the years proudly on display! Already causing a buzz with those that have heard it, Dirty North is going to do some serious devastation! Available Exclusively from Beatport the 25th of August. These 3 tunes do a WICKED job of showing off what can only be expected to be a MASSIVE album! I my self cant wait to see what the album is like and I’m pretty sure thats gonna be the vote around here too.

New Label Alert!!!!!

Posted under Uncategorized by J.Woot on Friday 11 July 2008 at 6:30 pm

A brand new label from France!!!! Oooh la la! …. ‘Katorza’ bought to you by label head Maelstrom who’s label mantra is similar to that of his own releases, to deliver top notch music, be it taking in the styles of breaks, electro, techno and all with a serious dollop of funk to get the party going. Here we go…..

Redux - Diskobreaks: Heavy 4/4 Flow on this one w/glitchy into biz and quite a catchy feel to it. The Breakdown introduces some heavily filtered funk and a blippy build into a massively Rauchy B-line driven smasher! Redux does a great job of changing up the tune while still keeping the energy high and the Edits a flowin’. I can really dig this tune and definitely plan on incorporating it into my sets this weekend . This is a great release to start off a label with. Redux has absolutely let the funk fly on this tune.

Diskobreaks (Maelstrom Candy Mix): Time for Label boss Maelstrom to wreck up the RmX duties and he’s taken the tune in a slightly Breakier direction. Heavy drums and trancy synths take this one into a distorted as hell breakdown. When the tune drops out of the break it feels slightly held back, but it builds from their more and more and drops once again into a slightly glitchy / distorted break down. All and all this RmX is good for a progressive type of set, Anyone who knows my style wouldn’t be surprised to hear that I wish it had just a bit more behind it tho. I can certainly see some candy kids diggin the shit out of this tune tho, as the name would imply.

Diskobreaks (Maelstrom Deadend Mix): Mr. Boss man’s up for double duty on this release, and this ones more 4/4. This tune starts with the Driving feel that I’ve been diggin the shit out of lately. Some seriously hard Biz before the intro is even done, Im likin’ this one. Come break down time this tune steps it up even more and the drop is proper to say the least. This tune has the energy i wish the breaks RmX above had. Theres a lot going on in this tune, but it’ll go over very well in a club a guaranty! Raunchy as hell bass lines, glitchy textures and a over all crowd rocka for sure. Well done.

Katorza debuts mid July with this massive chunka tunes and its already gettin smashed by Gen. MIDI, NAPT, Mr. Jimmy MoFo, Ursula1000, Mr No Hands , and you can throw me in there now too. Wicked tunes!

Mr no Hands turns out an amazing new Video and he has honed his skills in a major way!  Still got the lovable sheep in it.  The quality and content is thru the ROOF tho.  Keep an eye out for the tune to drop soon backed w/ another slice of Mr. NO Hands badness!!!!

Myagi Album Sampler…Aw YEAH!

Posted under News, Reviews by J.Woot on Thursday 10 July 2008 at 8:42 pm

Myagi gets set up for his album to drop later this year with a sampler that is sure to get us ALL excited.  This album will be released on Freddy Fresh’s label “Howlin” and, as any myagi fan is sure to know, Will no doubt be one you don’t wanna miss!

Myagi-Shapeshifter (MalenteRemix): Malente turns in a nice mellow RmX, or so one would think.  Blippy / Glitchy rhythems and a stripped down drum loop start this tune off. Don’t be fooled tho, When this tune drops after its “pretty” break down its FULL ON WOBBLE WARFARE!  This is one of those great bitter/sweet types of tunes that progressivly gets dirtier, and more distorted and ends up a monster of tune!  Malente has done a great job of steppin up the game on this RmX and any fan of the orig by Mr. Myagi himself will not feel complete until this is in thier crate.  Wicked tune!

Myagi-Shapeshifter (RebelSketchyRemix):  RebelSketchy steps up and brings this tune in a whole new direction w/ spacey vocals and one hell of a groovy intro.  Big, BiiiG break down biz on this tune full of catchy synth work and excellent edits.  By the time this tune fully drops out of the break its a full on groovin’ breaks RmX that is sure to get a crowd hyped!  This RmX brings the Album Sampler to a full on total package with something for everyone.  RebelSketchy does not disappoint yet again.  Well, WELL done!

Myagi has brought the full on fury with this batch of RmX’s by some of the best in the industry!  Wether its full on wobble house your lookin for, or a nice groovy mother of a breakbeat, hes got ya covered.  This album is slated to drop closer to the end of the year and you can get your grubby audiophile hands on this sampler a bit earlier than that.  Keep an eye out folks….ITS SOME BAD BIZ FER SURE!

Arms Race FTW!!!!!

Posted under Uncategorized by J.Woot on Wednesday 9 July 2008 at 5:57 pm

These are some wicked tunes and push a very promising new angle for Botchit…..

Quest and Odissi - Arms Race

Original: They’re back and it’s a HOT one guys! This tune starts with a great drum intro and some nice chime type deal before Oddissi drops some signature vocals in that “oh so sexy” way. Proper guitar riffs and classic quest style dub tones make this a GREAT basis for some wicked RmXs. When this tune is at its peak it is NOT one to be messed with, the duo tosses up one hell of a tune and this one, with its heavy jam and wicked vocals, is gonna make for a major ruckus on the DanceFloor. Proper Biz guys! WELL DONE

Sex and Circuitry RmX: Now we turn up a Live mix done by Oddissi and Prodigy / Pitchshifter axe man Jim
Davis! This live version will ROCK YOUR FUGGIN WORLD! Massive riffs, the same ultra hot oddissi vocal, rock-tastic drums and over all HUGE feel gives this rmx a hell of a presence and one wicked cruisin’ tune! Love the direction that the artists as well as botchit have gone on this package so far

LBJ RmX: Lbj takes this tune in a completely different direction on this one with a kinda “drag” guitar riff and nice underlying synth work. A very different guitar riff from the rest of the mixes. Im quite torn on this tune. I like it a good bit and am sure I can find a spot for it in a set, With such a solid feel running thru the rest of theses mixes i do suppose its well deserved to have a mix w/ a different feel. I retract my last statement. Im not torn any longer, this is a quality mix done well and Im stickin with it. Proper LBJ biz

Jade RmX: Now I dont know if its just cause I used to be DnB Dj, or the fact that I live in DnB country NC or what. I LOOOOVE this mix tho. Hard as hell half time intro, Master vocal work, and excellent use of the riffs from the orig ! I really, REALLLLLY like this tune! Jade has done a great job of using all the orig parts in their orig condition just using them very creatively and on top of that in a piece of DnB production perfection! This tune makes me wanna dust of my dnb wax and go get a set at NC strength to be honest *picks up phone*

Botchit puts together a ULTIMATE package with this one. Really stepping outside the box they provide every kinda mix you could ever want! To top it off, its all done by industry superstars who do not fail to deliver maximum quality and proper heaviness. JOB WELL DONE ALL AROUND ON THIS ONE

Catch up time!

Broke album “The Ends of the Earth”!!!

Posted under MP3, Mixes, News, Reviews by J.Woot on Tuesday 8 July 2008 at 4:31 pm

THIS IS A 3 CD MASTERPIECE FROM THE FOLKS AT BROKE!  THEY HAVE NEVER LET US DOWN BEFORE AND THE CERTAINLY DONT ON THIS ONE!

CD 1 - The Mix

Anyone who’s ever heard a Autobots mix knows exactly what to expect from this, and you wont be disappointed. They have been putting out quality mixes for ages and with such a proper arsenal of tunes, this mix is great for a long trip in a car! Dope.   The Autobots have  way of mixing like no other and it always makes for a JAMMIN CD!!!!

CD 2 - The new tunes
This Cd is all the unmixed tunes that are fresh to the scene. It includes the previously released tunes :

The Autobots & Timmy Schumacher Ft Mc Kyla & Bex Riley – Attitude
Unbalanced Jack Ft Crown Jewelz & Killa Benz- Flaming Tongues
Agent Alvin & Dunsta – Panelbeater
Affinity – Exodus W/ Agent Alvin RmX
Antiform Ft Tiki – Got To Be You
Antiform Ft Tiki – Got To Be You (Agent Alvin Rmx)

Along with this batch of stompers…

Agent Alvin & Dunsta - Polevault Bandit: This one starts of with the energy that you could only expect from these two. Heavy rolling beats and stabby guitar style skanks have tune starting out with a tasty vibe. The break introduces some heavy bass and some unexpected vocals wind it up to a full on dance floor destroyer full of growling bass and uplifting keys. The second breakdown is where this one really shines and you can expect a big reaction from it once it gets rollin’ again. This is a pretty dope tune for sure.

The Autobots & Screwface Ft Navigator – Apocalypse V.I.P: I don’t know many people that didn’t love this tune when it came out. Batman themed synth strings and the typical broke bass line biz made this one EPIC tune. Well, now there back to either make this one a reborn club anthem…or Destroy all the fond memories we had of it….lets see. Imma be absolutely honest, the second the vocal that for god knows what reason they decided to throw in here came in, I wanted to turn it off. Its short lived tho and the edits and added elements that have been added to the tune are a rather nice revamp to a tune that I absolutely loved when it came out. The vocal comes back a few times and it kills the whole tune for me. Its not even really one of those vocals that’s on the boarder..it just sucks. I suggest checking this one out for sure, cause like we all should remember, this was a wicked tune in its day. Im just not feelin it.

Far Too Loud & Specimen A – Headcase (Screwface Remix): Yet another bad ass tune redone for this massive release. Familiar vocals spattered throughout the intro, this tune works its way to a nice funky build and drops into a rather well done “prolonged” build before the standard screwface beats and bass fully drop. This tune screams screwface, with drummy edits and driving bass. At about 4 min the tune finally turns the corner that it seems its been getting at for quite a while. All in all this is a nice remix and a good job of preserving the orig elements of the tune has been done, while still adding the standard screwface flare.

Antiform Ft Ethical & Neesh - Grip: After such an epic, vocal driven tune as “got to be you” I was very souped to see what this tune had to offer. Nice tight drums and familiar key stabs bring this tune to a spacey breakdown with a vocal callin all the ladies out. This tune will go down well here in the states as it seems a lot like a booty. Not quite my flavor of tune, its well done tho. As far as the tune goes its a STOMPER! I would be so bold as to demand a dub of this one, I really like the tune. Vocals gots to go in this reviewers opinion tho.

Antiform Ft Mc Twincam – Crash: Some refreshing DnB to switch things up a bit. I dig this tune a lot due to its Dirty/Pretty vibe. Groovy vocals from Mc Twincam and Antiform supplies a great tune. Full of driving bass and exceptional DnB flavored drums. I can see this one doing a good job for the club heads and you might even see some bewbies. Good job on this one.

That sums up the extent of Disk 2. Over all this is a great bunch of tunes that’s sure to have something for most spots in a set. I definitely suggest checking this out. Good work all around.

Cd 3 - The archives

Cd 3 is some thing I was really excited to have. This CD hands over most of all the tunes that, if your anything like me, you only had on wax. Im glad to finally have these tunes at my disposal as I don’t usually carry my vinyl’s to the club anymore. This Cd even includes one new number, a mash up of Ctrl-Z – Space Dementia and The Autobots & Deep Impact - The Spanish Tune which is rather nice. Other back catalog tunes on this Cd include:

The Autobots & Screwface Ft Navigator – Burn
The Breakfastaz - Melody
Far Too Loud – Shock Treatment
The Autobots & Deep Impact – Bomba Latino
Ctrl-Z, The Autobots & Screwface – Karma
The Autobots & Deep Impact – Bullet Time
Wavewhore Ft Bex Riley – Funk Pill
The Autobots – Seconds Out
The Autobots Ft Teri & Christian Olde Wolbers – This World
Entity Ft Mc S.A.S - Coming On Deep
The Autobots & Screwface – Flesh EATER (GENERAL MIDI REMIX)

This album comes out in July and you DONT want to miss this.  With such wicked names on the bill this album is amazing!!!!!!!!  KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN NOISE PORN!

as a bonus, heres the video for Antiform - Got to be You…….chk it out

PLAZA DE FUNK “DROP THE BOMB” BRIGHTON BREAKS

Posted under Uncategorized by NAPT on Thursday 3 July 2008 at 7:09 pm

plaza

The Italian breakbeat superstar Plaza de Funk continues to ride his wave of success after his much deserved breakspoll awards and nominations with this chunky ditty on the consistent Brighton Breaks imprint. Quite often supplying more then you would expect from his funky moniker the Plaza serves up a slice of rude driving bassline, stompy breakbeats peppered with hip hop shouts and an irresistible bleep hook. Lots of pleasing production touches and a cool almost rock/hiphop tempo change ensure hands in the air aplenty moments and a surefire dancefloor gem. On the flip Nectarios keeps the vibes the same but injects a little shot of tech roll-out into proceedings with a big room sounding respray. Quality package.
