First of all apologies for not posting more frequently at the moment – it’s mainly because I’m now working full time and the weekends are the only time I get enough hours to put together a post. So sorry!!! – but to make up for it here’s a mega mega post with lots of free tracks and mixes for you all to enjoy on a summery sunday afternoon.
Dopamine Mix
First on the bill is Dopamine, who is big news in the breaks scene pretty much all the time. Best known track so far is probably “Flapjack,” which features on the video below and is a proper big room breaks anthem.
And if you liked that you can download this mix from Matt which he very kindly sent over – packed full of new tracks which have been featuring on some of our favourite blogs, as well as some unreleased stuff.

Up your grades with DMerit!

Micah Vellian and Outputmessage are DMerit, two teachers from Northeast DC, who in between teaching maths and remedial reading, produce dance music which is fantastically received all over the blog scene. Here’s a load of tracks you should have!
“This banger has been getting spins from the likes of Dave Nada and Hip-hop Dan, who recently used the track on his tour promo mix that was featured on Discobelle”
Madonna f. Justin Timberlake and Timberland – 4 Minutes (Dmerit Remix)
“This tune was done as part of a remix contest that wasn’t really clear whether it was a real contest or not. Regardless, we flipped the track and made the otherwise sugary pop number into a sinister, more menacing version.”
Nadia Oh – Your Number (Dmerit Remix)
“This is currently an entry in the Foals/Last.FM remix competition. We took an otherwise dark and brooding track and flipped it to make an indie electro banger with a slight touch of Baltimore house.”
Foals – Electric Bloom (Dmerit Remix)
“This track got featured on Palms Out Sounds’ Remix Sunday. At the time, Dmerit didn’t quite exist yet, so we just attached our dj night, Marquis as the remixer name. It features a lot of our own live instrumentation (bass and guitar) to give it an added soulful feel.”
Michael Jackson – P.Y.T. (Marquis/Dmerit Remix)
DFRNT dubstep

Keeping it local (although I’m temporarily living in London now!), we’ve got more dubstep from DFRNT, who’s graced Noise Porn’s hallowed pages before, so he must be good! There’s this mix, and then if you hit up his Myspace and check out the blog there, he’s got 2 320s ready for download too! Having only got into dubstep last year, he’s already producing some cracking stuff – including that amazing Dead Prez remix.
A DFRNT Dubstep Mix – June 2008
“1 hour of dubstep, including 2 exclusive tracks from the forthcoming EP, unavailable anywhere else, and the well received first incarnation of the DFRNT Altern-8 remix.”
The mix works in 2 halves, the first being chilled, the second being harder edged.
Botchit & Scarper Remix Competition
Thanks for all those who entered! We’re going to select five in the next week for you to listen to and one of them will be selected for a release on Contrabass, the new digital imprint from Botchit & Scarper. Genres wise there’s breaks, house, techno and dubstep to choose from and the standard has been fantastic. More updates soon!

I’d have to argue surely ‘Hold You’ is Dopamine’s biggest track :P
The Dopamine mix isn’t available anymore – any chance of reposting it?
